It’s not sure where the word comes from. Some theories claim it represents the black ink of profits in accounting books, some trace it to the congested traffic in Philadelphia on sales days, or, again, to the fact that sales days where black for companies whose employees would call in sick to go shopping and take advantage of the discounts. Whatever the origin of the word we know for certain that the first Black Friday in history dates back to 1924 when Macy’s shops organized a parade and discounts to encourage sales. From then on, the last Friday in November has become the day of good deals, the day in which a dream can come true with a smaller effect on family budget.
