Castagneto Carducci

Castagneto Carducci: what to see and do

The Etruscan Coast is a place renowned for its beautiful beaches and for the treasures left by the ancient population of the Etruscans. Among the best attractions should undoubtedly be mentioned Populonia Alta and the Archaeological Park of Baratti.

Also on the Etruscan Coast is the characteristic village of Castagneto Carducci whose name derives from the word “Castagno”, chestnut, (due to the presence of a chestnut forest) joined by the surname of the famous poet Giosuè who spent his childhood here.

This village, immersed in the unique and redolent context of the Tuscan countryside, has been subject of numerous conflicts over the years also for its strategic position between the hills and the sea. Walking through the streets during your visit to Castagneto Carducci you will find breathtaking views of the sea and the coast in all its beauty. You can stop at delicious cafes for a break or even visit fascinating Wine Bars and taste the excellences of this territory. Also take time to try traditional Castagneto recipes in the excellent restaurants which offer many tasty dishes that characterize this corner of Tuscany.

The surroundings of the village are no less beautiful to explore: take advantage of a tour of the castles, the Viale dei Cipressi or organize a wine tasting in one of the numerous cellars that are located along the Bolgheri wine route. And why not: spend an afternoon with the family at the amusement park “Cavallino Matto”. Cavallino Matto is the largest and greenest amusement park in Tuscany with over 30 attractions, activities, shows, restaurants and dining options.
