Etruscan Coast

Etruscan Coast

Tuscany Resort

The Etruscan Coast is the stretch of Tuscan coast in the province of Livorno, so named for the numerous remains (especially acropolises and necropolises) that testify to the Etruscan past of the area.
The ancient Etruscan people settled in this area as early as the 9th century BC. The Etruscan Coast includes several towns and municipalities including Castagneto Carducci, Piombino, Cecina, Bibbona, and other inland towns such as Sassetta, Suvereto, and Campiglia Marittima.
A holiday in this part of Maremma will allow you to discover many unknown corners, to enjoy a mild climate all year round, and to rediscover the taste of ancient flavours.

Among the beauties not to be missed, we cannot fail to mention Bolgheri, a village in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, almost uninhabited today – the inhabitants are less than 200 – but rich in history, traditions, ancient craft shops, and typical products famous all over the world, such as Sassicaia and Ornellaia wines. Among the most famous monuments, there is the ancient Oratory, the Castle, privately owned, and the church of Saints Jacopo and Cristoforo, small and very characteristic, right at the entrance of the village. Bolgheri is accessed through the famous Cypress Avenue, immortalized by the verses of Carducci in the poem “In front of San Guido”.
In addition to visiting the Medieval Villages, during your holiday on the Etruscan Coast, take advantage of organizing bike rides along winding roads surrounded by beautiful vineyards and olive groves, or taking walks along the beaches or in the stunning “Parks of Val di Cornia”, a circuit that includes natural, archaeological, and mining parks that well tell the story of this land with ancient origins. Visit the “Sterpaia Park”, among the most famous and characteristic, touched by a crystal-clear sea, which has been awarded the Blue Flag several times.
Archaeology enthusiasts can admire the remains of the Etruscan acropolis and necropolis in the Archaeological Park of Populonia and Baratti, situated in a unique natural setting.
Families with children can also visit the Archaeomineral Park of San Silvestro and entertain the little ones on a train tour of the ancient mine.
